Two young children have been taken to hospital with their parents following reports of an explosion at their home on Mont Pinel in St Helier.
The children, aged two and five, are unharmed, despite the wall of their home appearing to be significantly damaged, showing a set of bunk beds.
Their parents remain in the hospital and are in a stable condition with injuries that are described as non-life-threatening or life-changing.
Emergency services were called to a 'suspected explosion' just before 11.00 pm on Wednesday (26 June).
Four households were evacuated from the incident and were taken to St Saviour's Parish Hall.
In a statement, released at 5.30 pm, the government said it is helping 19 displaced residents with accommodation and other essentials whilst structural engineers attend houses in the area to check safety before investigations begin.
Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham says his thoughts are with all of those affected.
"Government is providing ongoing support to those families [affected]. The incident is being investigated and the cause remains unknown."
Gas company Island Energy said in a short statement they are supporting the emergency services in their investigation.
A major incident was declared earlier in the day, but it has been announced Mont Pinel has now entered the recovery phase instead.
The government says the scene is secure and the police are still on site.
