A new free 20 week course is bringing people in Jersey together to learn basic construction and woodworking skills.
Charity GROW Jersey has been given government funding for the community life-skills programme.
'Bridge and Build' aims to people practical upcycling skills that will keep household items from being dumped.
Participants will work collaboratively to design and build functional infrastructure for the Grow site, including benches, seedling tables, and other practical items that directly support community food production.
The course has been designed to be inclusive and accessible, particularly for people who are socially isolated, lacking confidence, or will have had limited opportunities to use tools, to take part in a community activity.
Dave Crocker, core team founding member of Grow Jersey, said:
“Bridge & Build is about more than making things. It’s about giving people the chance to learn new skills, work together, and feel part of something purposeful.
"Time outdoors, shared activity, and the satisfaction of creating something useful all contribute to improved wellbeing.”
Bridge & Build begins October 2nd, from 11am to 1pm and is free of charge to all participants.
