Piotr Antoni Glas - a former Catholic priest - has been jailed for five years after being found guilty of acts of gross indecency with a child.
The former clergyman was found guilty at trial in April 2025 of historical sexual offences against a child.
Police have described his crimes as 'manipulative' and say he 'abused his position of trust'.
Glas - now 61 - worked as a parish priest for five years between 2003 and 2008 and gained popularity within the community.
As a result, his behaviour went unchallenged, meaning he was able to take advantage of 'opportunities' for 'his own sexual gratification'.
The offences occurred between 2004 and 2007.
Detective Constable Caroline Foord welcomed the sentence handed down by Jersey's Royal Court, and praised the victim's 'immense courage' in reporting the abuse they suffered.
"Investigating historical cases of sexual abuse may present unique challenges. However, the States of Jersey Police will seek to conduct a thorough investigation to obtain all available evidence and to bring offenders to justice."
