Police say two boys were seen with a hammer running towards the Grande Marche after items were allegedly stolen from a St Helier flat.
The youngsters - thought to be aged 12-16 - were seen leaving the block of flats on Janvrin Road at around midday on Wednesday (6 July).
A pink Chanel purse, which held numerous bank cards and a form of ID, is missing from the targeted home.
Damage was also done to the inside of the property and the communal areas by what is suspected to have been a hammer.
The boys were believed to have been in the area of Roberts Garage before the alleged incident and were seen running out of the front doors of the Le Coie building and along Janvrin Road.
They were both dressed in dark clothing with dark face coverings, and the taller of the two was carrying a hammer.
Anyone who may have seen anything or who has any information is asked to contact police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via their anonymous online form.
