Battle organisers seek feedback on free Victoria Avenue parades

People who saw this year's Battle of Flowers parades are being asked to give their feedback, as organisers assess the success of the changed format.

The displays returned to Victoria Avenue for the first time since 2026, entry was free and the floats made a single procession eastbound during the day, and westbound for the Moonlight parade.

There was no grandstand seating, with spectators invited to bring their own folding chairs.

It is estimated around 30,000 enjoyed the parades.

Organisers have said a public thank you to everyone involved - from the floatbuilders and dancers, sponsors, volunteers and everyone who lined the route to watch the two parades.

"To every person who lined the Avenue, cheered, waved, smiled, danced and celebrated with us, thank you ❤️"

They say even having to cancel the fireworks finale last minute didn't dampen spirits.

"Seeing so many people come together and fill Victoria Avenue was the perfect reminder of what this event is really about!"

Now the association has put a short survey on the Battle of Flowers socials page, asking how people felt about the experience, the organisation, the one-way route and return of the bigger floats

There is also a reminder that those who enjoyed the spectacle can donate to help ensure the carnival's future.

There were donation points along the avenue, but Chair, Martyn Maguire, says whilst they are waiting on a final amount, they are slightly disappointed:

"It wasn't as much as we expected.

"People don't carry as much cash, and it could be because of where we put them. We also had some issues on the day with some solar cutouts on our Sum Up machines because it was too hot.

"And we didn't have any people with the machines, so people might have been walking past them, not even knowing what they were, so lessons learned.

"Feedback has been very, very positive. We have had some negative comments on the wait - we had some technical issues with getting some floats into the arena, so there were some gaps bigger than we wanted.

"But I think for a free parade, people really enjoyed it. Battle is back.
