Battle of Flowers: Plea for last-minute volunteers

Battle of Flowers teams across Jersey are appealing for any volunteers to help with the final push ahead of tomorrow's parade (14 August).

Victoria Avenue will once again be transformed into a floral arena, with parish teams, community groups, and volunteers investing months into designing and constructing their dazzling floats.

The work goes all the way up to the parade, with battle sheds across the island packed with people completing their projects.

Many of them are asking for any additional volunteers to make sure they're ready to go.

Sean Jones, chairman of the St Brelade Battle of Flowers Association, said:

"Lots still to do, but we've got another day! More helpers would be wonderful as always, but we're doing well.

"I'm very pleased with the progress so far.

"Pickers, gluers, anyone that can flower, please come and find us!"

The arena opens at 1pm, with the grand day parade getting underway at 3pm.

It starts by the La Motte Ford garage at Rue de Galet and proceeds east along the southern carriageway of Victoria Avenue, finishing at Lower Park, where the floats will park for the night and be available for public viewing.

With another warm day forecast, hydration breaks are being introduced.
