An inquest has heard a woman found unconscious at Victoria Bathing Pool died in a 'tragic accident'.
Dianne Mona McHale was discovered face down in the water at West Park and passed away in hospital a short time later.
An inquest has heard that Ms McHale (57), who was visiting the island, had been drinking before going to the beach alone on the evening of Bank Holiday Monday 2 May.
A toxicology report found that her blood-alcohol level was more than three times the drink-driving limit.
Advocate Cyril Whelan, acting as Coroner, says Ms McHale's mental and physical state was likely impaired by the effect of alcohol consumed immediately before her death.
"There is nothing to support anything but a tragic accident." - Sam Rawlinson, SOJP Liaison Officer.
The cause of death was given as drowning.
Advocate Whelan offered his sincere condolences before closing the inquest.
