All-Jersey cast and chorus take to The Opera House stage

The piece is led by internationally acclaimed Jersey-born mezzo-soprano Georgia Mae Bishop (pictrured)

'Held in the Tide' is an opera shaped by, performed by, and telling the story of Jersey.

ArtHouse Jersey and Jersey Opera House have announced 'Held in the Tide', an ambitious new opera created for and with the people of Jersey, premiering in March 2026.

It is performed by an all-Jersey cast and chorus, and tells the stories of our island in 'every day relatable language'.

The work is the culmination of a year-long collaboration between world-class opera-makers and young islanders aged 18 to 30, developed through open workshops.

The music draws on the island’s sound world; its rhythms, tides, and multilingual textures.

ArtHouse Jersey says it is the 'ideal entry point' for those who haven't experienced opera before.

As part of the production, ArtHouse Jersey is launching an island-wide callout for 20–25 chorus members to join the production.

Whether participants are confident performers or enthusiastic beginners, the team welcomes anyone aged 18+ living in Jersey who enjoys singing and is excited to be part of a vibrant performance.

The show can be enjoyed by anyone over 10 years old.
