30 affordable homes to be built in St Martin

Planning permission has been granted for 30 affordable homes at the edge of St Martin's Village.

12 two-bed, and 18 three-bed homes, all with parking and gardens, will go on Rue des Buttes, next to the cemetery.

The estate will also get communal and public open space.

The previous Planning Committee originally refused an application for the development in March 2025, with concerns about road safety.

After an appeal, it has been granted, with the access route changed from the south to the north of Rue des Buttes.

Assistant Environment Minister Senator Sir Mark Boleat agreed with the assessment of the independent planning inspector that permission should be given.

The site was rezoned for affordable housing in the Bridging Island Plan.
