Islanders can now submit their tax returns for 2020.
Last year, around 19,000 forms were filed online. Emails are being sent to those taxpayer to let them know the system is available again.
The government is encouraging a higher uptake this year:
"Online filing is quicker, more convenient and easier than using the paper form. Taxpayers filing online for the first time will need to activate a onegov account, which includes setting up a digital ID using the Yoti app."
Paper tax return forms are being sent to those Islanders who completed the physical document last year.
Anyone who used to pay taxes on a Prior Year Basis will have their payments made for 2019 put towards their 2020 bill instead.
The 2019 bill will be frozen and settled later, but those taxpayers will not know whether they have an outstanding debit or credit until their 2020 tax return has been returned and assessed.
The government says that is another reason to choose online filing:
"PYB taxpayers can use online filing to clarify their position more quickly. Filing online allows Revenue Jersey staff to assess tax returns more easily, which means that PYB taxpayers will gain certainty sooner. "
You have until the 31st of May to submit paper returns, or the 31st of July to submit it online.
