The Constables of St Martin have taken to social media to report a recurring vegetable problem.
For months, residents of St Martins have been spotting butternut squashes bobbing along the stream on La Fosse de Bas.
Senior Constable Dave Beausire, admits that although the sight is slightly amusing, it is attracting vermin.
"They are brand spanking new, they still have the shop sticker on them, and somebody usually chucks one, but this time it's two into the stream.
"They are natural, it will rot, but the reality is that it attracts rats, seagulls, magpies and everything else.
"We thought posting it, somebody might see it and think, oh maybe I shouldn't do that, it is a bit silly."
Commentators on social media have been amused:
"Gourd works in mysterious ways"
"It deters that dangerous predator, the Dogfish. Does it work? Have you ever seen a dogfish in a douit?"
"Get them out & make some soup."
