83 post boxes will shut across Guernsey, but a public consultation saves 14 from closure.
The move will see Guernsey served by 59 post boxes in key and accessible locations.
Guernsey Post is closing the remainder because they are underutilised, with often just a handful of letters posted in them each week.
Steve Sheridan, who heads up Guernsey Post, told Island FM that the closures will begin on 4 November:
"Almost all of them will remain in situ, and what we will do is effectively place plaques over the section where you would post your letters, so they'll be in situ but not in operation."
500 people took part in a month-long public consultation, and this persuaded Guernsey Post to save 14 post boxes which were destined to close. Steve Sheridan says it was a useful exercise:
"We believe the revised network offers a sensible balance between customer accessibility and operational efficiency, ensuring postal services remain sustainable for the future."
Heritage was a key theme in respondents to the consultation, and some boxes, like the one at the top of Colborne Road, will have an interpretation plaque placed next to them.
It was damaged by Allied aircraft during raids on German radar in 1944 and still bears the scars.
Guernsey's very first post box, in Union Street, is saved from closure.
It dates back to 1853 and is one of the oldest still in use in Britain.
