Standard Guernsey bus ticket could rise to £1.70

Islanders are being asked to have their say on a proposed rise in Guernsey bus fares.

The Environment and Infrastructure Committee says it is important that bus travel remains affordable, but user contributions and government subsidies need to be balanced.

It is proposing a 6.25%, or 10p, increase to the standard fare, taking it to £1.70.

The biggest proposed increase is to the two-day unlimited family pass, which could rise by almost 43% to £30.

Meanwhile, E&I suggests late-night bus fares remain at £5 to keep the service attractive.

The seven-day single and family passes could be discontinued, as they proved unpopular, with 47 purchased in 2024 and 5 in 2025.

Islanders have until 26 January to send comments on the proposed changes to the Senior Passenger Transport Officer at Edward T Wheadon House.
