Residents of the upper parishes and St Peter Port will showcase their talents this weekend.
The South Show kicks off today (8 August) and will run until tomorrow evening at the St Martin's Community Centre.
Home-grown fruit, veg and flowers, along with baked goods and crafts, will be on display and judged.
Organiser John Ogier says they have one thousand entries this year.
"It is great that people still have time to grow crops, produce great works and prepare cooking and be able to share that with the community and have a bit of friendly rivalry."
He adds that although the South Show goes back hundreds of years, it is still relevant.
"It was initiated when horticulture and agriculture were the centre of the industries and the island community.
"Gradually over the years, we have been evolving it so that it includes the heritage, and maintains the community spirit, but has modern activities."
This year will feature performances from the Majorettes, the Guernsey Jazz Orchestra and appearances from Rupunzel and Spiderman.
