The new all weather facilities at Chemin le Roi will be opened by British show jumping legend John Whitaker MBE.
British Show Jumping Guernsey (BS Guernsey) has owned the land behind the Forest water reservoirs since the 1980s and in 2002 put in an all weather arena.
That has worn over time and the decision was made to replace and extend the facilities for both show jumping and dressage.
Roger Hughes is a lifelong horse rider and treasurer of BS Guernsey:
"We have a surface that's 19 years old.
"What we've done is completely replaced what we have with new drainage, a new surface, we've extended the arena and we've created a new warm up arena as well to support both the competition and training facilities."
Roger says contractors have been putting in the hours to get everything ready:
"They have worked seven days a week for the past two months to make this happen.
"Even to the point where I've seen photographs of them with tractor lights on, working at night."
The facilities have been upgraded with the help of local businesses and Roger says other areas of the community have helped too:
"We've been very fortunate that we did have some funds and some reserves of our own.
"We've been to the States and got a States sports loan which has been a huge help, and we've also got some private funding from members who have almost been benevolent to the cause."
The facilities will be officially opened by British and Olympic show jumping legend John Whitaker, MBE.
British Show Jumping Guernsey's chair, Sarah Mills, invited him to the event when they met at Hickstead this summer.
She says it's a 'massive, massive privilege' and stole herself before asking him to open the new arena:
"I said, 'I'm pleased to meet you. My name is Sarah Mills and I'm the chair of BS Guernsey.'
"I said, 'have you ever been to Guernsey' and he said 'no.'
'And so I said 'would you like to come to Guernsey?' and he smiled, and that was that."
The ceremony takes place from 5 this evening, (17 October).
