Construction industry supplier SGB Hire Channel Islands has closed with immediate effect.
UK owner BrandSafway has confirmed the business in Jersey and Guernsey has ceased trading.
It has operated in the islands for 70 years, with sites on Longueville Road in Jersey and on Pitronnerie Road, St Peter Port Guernsey.
SGB Hire stocked a range of tools, builders plants, gardening products, event and catering supplies, site services, equipment and workwear for hire and sale to trade and domestic customers.
It reportedly employed 25 staff.
Adrian de Gruchy, Chairman of the Jersey Construction Council, said the closure would have an impact on everyone affected, from the directors, employees and clients to subcontractors and suppliers:
"The Council will not comment on the factors or circumstances that may have contributed to the decision to cease operations.
"SGB has been a longstanding provider to the construction and domestic markets for more than 70 years, delivering hire services and associated support across the Channel Islands."
