Islanders are being advised to be extra careful in the current spring tides and swell, after emergency services attended two incidents along the west coast.
Guernsey Police helped several children to safety yesterday evening (20 August), after they became stranded by the tide and rough seas on a reef off Grandes Rocques.
Within half an hour, the RNLI and Guernsey Coastguard were called to help swimmers in difficulty at Vazon.
The service says the current spring tides and strong westerly winds make bay swimming and 'tombstoning' (jumping into the water) off rocks more dangerous.
"Fortunately, both incidents had positive outcomes, but it could have been very different."
High tide is around 8.53pm tonight (21 August) and 9.18am tomorrow.
