A red level wind warning has been issued for the Channel Islands, with F8 gales forecast.
The effects of Storm Benjamin, named by Meteo France, are expected to be felt here overnight on Wednesday and into Thursday.

Winds will increase to strong force 6 or 7 overnight, from the west or northwest, becoming occasionally gale force 8 with gusts to 60 mph.
Those conditions are predicted to persist into Thursday afternoon and evening.
It will remain windy on Friday too, though the current forecast is for them to ease slightly to F6-7 with gusts to 40mph.
Islanders are being advised to secure any garden furniture, trampolines and any vessels.
There is a risk of debris on the roads on Thursday morning.
