Public health officials say there is currently no shortage of flu vaccines for those eligible under the vaccination programme - but say some community pharmacies may be low on stock.
Associate Director of Public Health Alex Hawkins-Drew says health authorities plan ahead to ensure sufficient supply for those who qualify through the annual vaccination programme.
“We can confirm there is no shortage of vaccines for those who are eligible within the routine programme at this time, and we work closely with our colleagues in pharmacy to plan the campaign and place our vaccine order with the vaccine manufacturers many months before the start of the programme.
“We have heard that some community pharmacies may be low on stock, however as these are provided as private services, the States of Guernsey have no information on stock levels held within these pharmacies.
"We would advise anyone who has had problems securing a private flu vaccine to call other pharmacies to see if they have any available."
Health advice is similar to that for the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We continue to remind islanders to avoid visiting vulnerable people at home or in healthcare settings if they are feeling unwell, until symptoms improve.
"Visiting friends or relatives in hospital while you are unwell puts them and others at risk of infection.
“Good respiratory hygiene, such as washing hands regularly and keeping indoor spaces well ventilated, also helps prevent transmission of flu and other viruses.”
