Two Guernsey parishes were without landlines for more than three hours today (Tuesday 13 February).
Sure says an electrical fault at its central exchange meant landlines still on the copper network in St Peter Port and St Sampsons could not make or receive calls from 8:42am.
It had advised customers in the area to use a mobile to access emergency services.
Engineers resolved the issue by 12:15 pm.
Sure's Head of Customer Services, Tracy Kirby, has this message for the public:
“We apologise for the inconvenience to anyone affected by this outage.
As a precaution, if you know a vulnerable person who may have been impacted, and does not have a mobile, we suggest checking in on them.
Thank you to our customers for their patience. If anyone continues to experience issues with their landline, please call us on 700700 or submit a query online.”
