Influencers flown to Guernsey for tourism-promoting content

22 influencers with a reach of over 2.5 million people are Visit Guernsey's latest strategy to tempt holiday makers to the Bailiwick.

22 top-tier digital creators, whose combined audience exceeds 2.5 million across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and long-form blogs have visited Guernsey, Herm and Sark.

They spent six days creating content to promote holidaying and activities in the Bailiwick.

They took part in a programme of workshops and hands-on experiences that were quintessentially Guernsey.

37% of Guernsey visitors cite social media and influencers as key sources of travel inspiration.

From island-hopping and stargazing to surfing, kayaking, and drone photography, the itinerary was carefully curated to inspire content.

The itinerary has sparked the creation of over 650 posts to date, collectively viewed by more than 820,000 people.

Sam Claxton, who does marketing for the States, says despite their trips being paid for, Guernsey gets value:

"We know what it costs to advertise in the Telegraph; from that, we can calculate the value of a piece.

"It's similar to influencers based on their followers and engagement.

"The sun was out, the sea looked gorgeous. From the content we've seen, we can see they really enjoyed the island hopping.

"A lot of their posts are 'this isn't the Caribbean, this isn't the Maldives, this is still in the British Isles.'"
