A large UK homeware discount store will be open on the old Quayside site, north of the Bridge.
Guernsey deputies unanimously agreed at an open planning meeting today (18 June) to allow Home Bargains to open in St Sampsons.
The application for the former Quayside site included a new retail building and associated parking.
President of the Development & Planning Authority Deputy Victoria Oliver says the build will help rejuvenate the Bridge.
“We’re really pleased to see appropriate development come forward on a currently underutilised site within one of our Main Centres which has been derelict since 2014, making a positive contribution to the area bringing investment and creating job opportunities.
"Our role involves balancing development to enable the economy while preserving and enhancing what makes Guernsey a great place to live."
The 23,000 sq.ft store is expected to create up to 100 jobs.
Once building work begins, it is likely to take a year to complete.
