
Guernsey's States-owned airline, Aurigny, had the second-worst punctuality record for UK departures last year.
According to data analysis from the Civil Aviation Authority, Aurigny's departures from UK airports were an average of 31 minutes and 12 seconds behind schedule in 2024.
This was the year that it had to suspend its summer schedule for a number of weeks and struggled with some of its leased aircraft following mishaps.
The analysis took into account all scheduled and chartered departures from UK airports by airlines operating more than 2,500 flights last year, cancellations were not included.
Air India got the top spot, due to the carrier’s average delays of 45 minutes and 48 seconds.
Another Channel Islands airline made the list - Blue Islands, ranked 11th for worst punctuality.
It matched Eastern Airways, with an average delay time of 21 minutes and 18 seconds.
An Aurigny spokesperson said:
“We’ve been clear that last year’s results fell short of the standards we and our customers expect.
"That’s why we made it a priority to do better in 2025.
“We’re pleased to report that meaningful progress has been made since.
"Between January and May this year, we’ve observed a 24% reduction in delayed flights compared to the same period in 2024.
"Excluding delays beyond our control, such as weather and air traffic restrictions, 87% of our flights have arrived within 15 minutes of their scheduled time.
"Furthermore, less than 5% of flights have experienced delays of over an hour.
“These improvements are the result of focused efforts across the airline, and we remain committed to building on this momentum to deliver a more reliable and consistent service for our community.”
