Guernsey signs 15-year agreement with Brittany Ferries

Brittany Ferries, the majority owner of current operator Condor Ferries, has signed an agreement with Guernsey today (4 December).

It will see Brittany Ferries run Guernsey's freight and passenger ferry services until 2040.

The new schedule, which runs from 28th March through to 30th September 2025, is available online.

Economic Development's Deputy Neil Inder, says the new schedule offers the community consistency and resilience.

"Negotiations with Brittany Ferries on a Guernsey-only service have progressed at pace so that we can give assurance to our community, our economy, and our critical supply chain.

The Committee selected Brittany Ferries as its preferred bidder after a detailed 10-month tender in which its bid met all criteria set out within the tender."

He also confirmed no public money is committed to Brittany Ferries in support of the delivery of the schedule.

BF is providing a full financial and operational guarantee over the services in the contract.

Brittany Ferries Chief Executive, Christophe Mathieu says he is thrilled to have signed a long term agreement with Guernsey.

"This significant milestone secures vessels, berths and timetables and much needed certainty for all those relying on ferry services next year.

Since sailings were made available, we have seen more than 3,000 passengers book between the UK, France and Guernsey, providing a welcome boost for tourism, hospitality and outbound travel for Islanders."

On Tuesday, Jersey named the Danish ferry company DFDS as its preferred bidder for its ferry routes.
