Guernsey Library to host Costume Creation event ahead of World Book Day

The Guille-Allès Library is making sure every child can dress up this World Book Day.

In a fortnight, on 5 March, people will celebrate the joy of reading with World Book Day.

Every year, children are encouraged to dress up as their favourite fictional character.

To help families prepare, the Guille-Allès Library is hosting a Costume Creation event tomorrow (20 February).

A  selection of pre-loved costumes and accessories will be available from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Hayward Room, on the second floor.

The event has been made possible by a collaboration between the Library, Health Connections, the Clean Earth Trust, and Repair Café.

A craft table will also be set up so children can create their own outfit details.

The Library’s Fab Lab will also be open with an additional sewing machine available for costume creators to use.

Children & Young People's Collections Lead, Tiffany Woosley, says the initiative will be good for the environment and fun for the children:

“We are so excited to host this event and help children create costumes that are unique and perfect for them.

"Buying a new costume online can be expensive, and we want to support parents with a more sustainable option.

"We can’t wait to see what everyone creates!”
