An online resource matches deputies' pledges with their voting records, ahead of the resumption of the GST debate.
The Guernsey Deputy Scorecard was put together using AI to crunch the data from Hansard reports and deputies' manifestos.
It is the idea of Guernsey born PR professional William Walter who says the States do not provide this sort of information in one place in a handy, accessible form.
He found that of the 12 deputies opposed to GST at the June 2025 election, it was only possible to measure three against any actual votes, and of those, only one stuck to their promise.
William Walter says little economic growth in Guernsey is a concern, and this is why he is providing a sharper focus to the work of government, which he sees as a facilitator:
"When I grew up in Guernsey - during the 90s and early 2000s - it was really boom time for the island, and over the past 10 years it's really stagnated in its economic growth."
The Deputy Scorecard allows a user to compare data on areas like promises kept or broken, and States and committee meetings attended.
There is even a section on the number of words spoken during States meetings.
Senior politician Lindsay de Sausmarez leads this category, while new deputy Bruno Kay-Mouat is last, with Hansard showing he has spoken 325 words in the Assembly since early July 2025.
William stresses that deputies were allowed to check his work and make changes or comments and so he sees it as a fair record of the first year of their performance.
He says that the Scorecard shines a light on States meetings, that he would like to see televised:
"Deputies, they're missing a massive trick, as lots of interesting topics are being debated, and if I was a deputy I’d be trying to open it up and trying to make it easier for islanders to be able to hear what we’re saying and the points that we’re making."
