Work to clear the Idlerocks is due to begin after the August Bank Holiday.
The Idlerocks at Jerbourg partially burned down in 2003 and since then has lain derelict and is slowly collapsing.
The perimeter fence has warning signs telling people to keep out because of the state of the building.
Local gardening firm Bernie's has been clearing some of the undergrowth that has grown up around the site, ahead of demolition.
This is being managed by Breton, a Guernsey company that is using the Bath based firm Pennys to handle the work.
This is because of the precarious state of the building following the fire and two decades of being abandoned to the elements.
Asbestos removal has complicated the process.
Plans to replace the hotel with a modern, low slung house have been approved but it is unclear at this stage when construction may begin. We have approached the architects, but they have yet to comment.
The house would follow the line of the cliff and would be hardly visible from the road and nearby car park.
Extensive planting, including a green roof, would act as natural camouflage.
