Liberation Day organisers want Guernsey to get as patriotic as possible with decorations to mark 80 years of Liberation.
Islanders are being encouraged by Education Sport and Culture to get creative for May 9th and 'Decorate to Liberate.'
Deputy Sue Aldwell from Education Sport and Culture says it is important to really make an effort for the 80th anniversary:
"We encourage everyone to think outside of the box, get creative, and perhaps plan community art, floral arrangements, or dress-up days.
We hope to see as many people as possible get involved for Liberation Day. Even a small gesture like putting an 80th sign in a window will have a big impact.
Decorations across the island mean that those unable to join a parish event or the large-scale celebrations can still appreciate the festivities in the lead up to the 9 May, as well as on the day itself."
There is already a community project to sew bunting flags that will stretch the length of the St Peter Port seafront.
Anyone wanting to copy this idea for their own home can get a template online.
