Corridor gallery opens in Guernsey hospital

A new gallery at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital will host changing exhibitions throughout the year to support wellbeing.

Guernsey Museums and Health and Social Care are working together on a new project to help reduce stress and improve mental well-being for patients, visitors, and staff.

The Corridor Gallery, on Level 2 near the Day Patient Unit, will host changing exhibitions throughout the year.

The first, entitled Blue Spaces, features blue-toned coastal-themed artworks in different styles.

Head of Creative Health, Lottie Barnes, says many will benefit from the art.

"Partnerships between hospitals and museums are becoming increasingly common, as the positive role art can play in health and wellbeing is more widely recognised.

"By creating welcoming and uplifting spaces for patients, staff and visitors, these collaborations also help make culture more accessible to the wider community.

"At the heart of our Arts and Health programme is a commitment to working with our community and its cultural assets to build a flourishing programme that supports health and wellbeing.”
