Channel Islands Air Search aircraft returns to service

The Channel Islands’ air search and rescue service can resume after an aircraft registration issue was resolved.

The Channel Islands Air Search plane, which was grounded last week, is back in service today (21 January).

The registration problem, which affected hundreds of aircraft worldwide, has been resolved with updated Federal Aviation Administration documentation.

The plane can now provide its 24-hour volunteer air search and rescue service again.

Emergency services, including Guernsey and Jersey Coastguards, have been informed.

In 2025, the service was called out 26 times, about once every two weeks.
