Aurigny takes delivery of second Alderney aircraft

The Skybus Twin Otter will provide resilience on the lifeline Alderney routes.

The Twin Otter is the replacement aircraft for the Dornier under an agreement between Aurigny and south west airline Skybus to run the lifeline Alderney services using this aircraft type.

Aurigny says the arrival of a second aircraft provides the back up and resilience it needs to operate the passenger sectors and provide emergency medical flights from Alderney.

The airline says it will be based in Guernsey or Alderney for the vast majority of the time, but will need to fly back to Land's End airport occasionally for checks or crew changes.

Aurigny says the current arrangement is far more robust than in the Dornier era, when one aircraft could be out of service for up to four months for maintenance.
